Dmitry Korchak

Biography

Graduated from the Victor Popov Academy of Choral Art as a conductor (class of Professor V. Popov) and a singer (class of Associate Professor D. Vdovin). In 2004 he completed his post-graduate studies at the Academy. In 2003 – 2007 he worked at the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow.

Dmitry Korchak is a winner of the Triumph Youth Award, International Glinka Competition, Oleg Yankovsky Award of the Chereshnevy Les Festival and Luitpold Prize by German critics. In 2004, he became a Prize Winner at Francisco Vinas International Competition in Barcelona (Spain) and at Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition in Los Angeles (USA), where he got prizes in two nominations.

He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as: L. Maazel, R. Muti, K. Nagano, Z. Mehta, M. Minkowski, D. Barenboim, M. Plasson, P. Domingo, A. Zedda, R. Chailly, E. Svetlanov, V. Fedoseyev, Y.Temirkanov, V. Spivakov, M. Pletnev, V. Popov and others.

Dmitry Korchak performs at the best opera venues and takes part at the prestigious international festivals, including world-famous Rossini Festival in Pesaro, Salzburg Festival, Bad Kissingen Festival, Kent Nagano Reate Festival, Colmar Festival and others.

Among Dmitry’s recent engagements are performances at the opera houses such as La Scala, Opera Bastille, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Dutch National Opera, Zurich Opera House, Theatre Royal de La Monnaie, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Los Angeles Opera, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Palau de les Artes in Valencia, Semperoper Dresden, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Opéra de Lyon, Staatsoper Hamburg, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, concerts at the Carnegie Hall in New York, Albert Hall in London and many other concerts halls of America, Europe and Russia.

His future engagements embrace performances at the festivals in Pesaro and Zion; Don Giovani at Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Colón and Gran Teatro del Liceo,  Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Metropolitan Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg and Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Rossini’s Otello at Teatro di San Carlo and Gran Teatro del Liceo,  Les pêcheurs de perles at the Melbourne Opera; Orfeo ed Euridice at the Chicago Opera, Le prophete at Deutsche Oper Berlin, I puritani at  Wiener Staatsoper,  Dom Sébastien in Toulouse and also concert tours of Russia and Europe.

Since 2014 he has been performing actively as a conductor.  Starting with season 2017/2018 Dmitry Korchak has been Principal Guest Conductor at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre as well as Guest Conductor at Mikhailovsky Theatre of St. Petersburg.
