St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yuri Temirkanov will perform in Madrid, Zaragoza and Alicante on January 20 - 24. The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mariss Jansons, was supposed to go on that tour of Spain, but after the conductor's death, the orchestra was forced to cancel these performances.

The St. Petersburg Philharmonia and Mariss Jansons had tight relationship throughout the last forty years, even while he mainly performed abroad, collaborating with the world’s best orchestras, leading the legendary Royal Concertgebouw orchestra for over ten years, directing The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra for over fifteen years. That is why the proposal to go on scheduled tour of Spain was sent to the Distinguished orchestra of Russia and Yuri Temirkanov.

The concerts of St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yuri Temirkanov, with pianists Nikolai Lugansky and Behzod Abduraimov, will be held at the Madrid National Music Auditorium (Auditorio Nacional de Música), as well as at the Auditorio – Palacio de Congresos de Zaragoza and at the Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante.

On January 20, Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony and Second Piano Concerto will be performed in Zaragoza, with Nikolai Lugansky as the soloist.

On January 21, in Madrid and on January 24, in Alicante, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Yuri Temirkanov will perform Brahms' Fourth Symphony and Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto; Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony and Beethoven's First Piano Concerto will be performed on January 23, in Madrid. Behzod Abduraimov will perform as soloist in the three named programs.
