Anthony Bonamici

Biography

Anthony Bonamici was born in the city of Livonia in Michigan in the USA. As a child, studying with Professor Donald Morlock, Anthony was giving recitals with orchestras and taking part in international competitions (piano and composition). After leaving school, Anthony entered the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire where he studied under Professor Naum Starkman. In 1999, he transferred to the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. In 2001 he graduated from the piano department (class of Professor Elena Shishko) and in 2004 from the composition department (class of Professor Boris Tishchenko). Anthony currently performs in chamber concerts and is actively engaged in composition. His most recent premieres include his vocal cycle In Anticipation after poetry by Alexander Blok in the Lesser Hall of the St Petersburg Conservatoire. As a musician, he is also engaged in pedagogical activities, teaching piano and chamber ensemble classes at the State Russian Herzen Pedagogical University. Anthony Bonamici is director of the Bonamici Clavecins workshops in St Petersburg which produce authentic harpsichords and spinets.
