Biography
Born in Leningrad in 1977.
Graduated from St.Petersburg State Conservatoire named after Rimsky-Korsakov as composer under Prof. Alexander Mnatsakanyan (2000) and as pianist under Prof. Eduard Bazanov (2001). Completed his post-graduate studies in 2002 (department of composition).
His awards includes:
1998 – Competition of Composition held by Gartow Fund – III-rd prize
Rostropovich Fund Stipendium (Composition)
2004 – Ist prize Laureate of the IVth International Prokofiev Competition (a member of the World Federation), Piano Section, Saint-Petersburg.
Composed several chamber works, Symphony for strings, two concertos for piano and orchestra.
Gives regular solo concerts in St.-Petersburg. Two concerts of his own com-position were played on the 1st and 2nd Festivals “The Youth Academies of Russia” (St.-Petersburg and Moscow, December 2002; Moscow, Kazan, Ekaterinburg, Febru-ary 2004).
Nikolai Mazhara is a member of the St.Petersburg Academic Symphonic Or-chestra (since 2001).
