Irina Mataeva

Biography
Irina Mataeva was born in Tyumen. In 1999 she graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. She took part in performances by the Opera and Ballet Theatre of the St Petersburg Conservatoire. From 1998 she was a soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers.
Mariinsky Theatre soloist since 2007.
Irina Mataeva has toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company to Finland, China, Great Britain (Royal Opera House, Covent Garden), Germany, Italy (Teatro alla Scala), the USA (Metropolitan Opera) and Austria. She has performed the role of Prilepa (The Queen of Spades) in Los Angeles and the roles of Micaëla ( Carmen) and Prilepa (The Queen of Spades) at the Washington Opera (conducted by Plácido Domingo). In 2003 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Tatiana ( Eugene Onegin), in 2007 she performed the role of Natasha Rostova ( War and Peace) at the Metropolitan Opera, repeated at Washington’s Kennedy Center in 2010. At the Opéra de Marseilles she performed the role of Vanina in Tomasi’s opera Sampiero Corso in 2005. At the Bunka Kaikan concert hall in Tokyo under Seiji Osawa in 2008 she performed the role of Tatiana ( Eugene Onegin). In 2009 she performed this role again at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, and again in 2010 at Warsaw’s Teatr Wielki.
She has performed in London, Milan, Bordeaux, Bruges, San Francisco, Buenos Aires (the Teatro Colón), and she has given recitals in London, Baden-Baden and Milan.
