Alexandr Buzlov
Biography
Alexander Buzlov graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 2006, where he studied with N.Gutman. A year later he became her assistant; conducts master classes in Russia, the United States and Europe. He won his first Grand Prix “Mozart-96” in Monte Carlo at age 13. The cellist is a laureate of several prestigious competitions in Moscow, Belgrade, Kronberg, Munich, Leipzig, New York, Geneva, Berlin, LXIII International Cello Competition in Geneva (2nd prize, 2007), E.Feuermann Cello Competition in Berlin (Grand Prix and Audience Award, 2010). Silver medalist, winner of the prize for the best performance of a work by Tchaikovsky and the Special Prize of the M.Rostropovich and G.Vishnevskaya Foundation at the XIII International Tchaikovsky Competition (2007) and bronze medalist of the XV Tchaikovsky Competition (2015).
He has performed regularly with such conductors as V.Fedoseev, V.Gergiev, V.Spivakov, Y.Bashmet, C.Orbelian, T.Sanderling, M.Eklund, C.Vandelli, Y.Kreizberg and M. Inoue.
In 2005, Buzlov made his debut in Carnegie Hall and performed at a Gala Concert at the Lincoln Center in New York with the St Luke Symphony Orchestra conducted by L.Slatkin. He devotes much time to chamber music performance, and has repeatedly performed with N.Gutman, Y.Bashmet, A.Lyubimov, V.Lobanov, T.Grindenko and A.Margulis. He has recorded for Russian TV and radio, as well as on radio stations in Germany, Switzerland, France, the USA and Austria. In 2016, the cellist took part in the joint project of the recording company “Melody” and the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted by A.Sladkovsky, who recorded all of Shostakovich’s symphonies and concerts.
In the summer of 2017, the recording company “Melody” in its joint project, “Melodia A Priori” with the agency “Apriori Arts”, released a disc of piano trios “3X3” with a live recording of the concert held in the Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, where the cellist’s partners were L.Geniušas and A.Pritchin.
