Biography

Born in Swiebodzin in 1990. He studied at Academy of Music in Cracow in the organ class (Prof. Jozef Serafin and as. Arkadiusz Bialic) and harpsichord class (Prof. Magdalena Myczka and as. Andrzej Zawisza). In 2012/2013 he studied (Erasmus programme) at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart with Professor Ludger Lohmann (organ) and Professor Jorg Halubek (harpsichord).
His greatest achievements are: 1st prize in Polish Nationwide Organ Competition for Organ Class Students in Wrocław (2008), award at the Organ Competition “Organist of New Europe” in Krzeszow (2008), finalist of the J. Kucharski International Organ Competition (2011), 1st prize in Polish Organ Competition Music of Jehan Alain (2011), 1st prize in XVIII Leos Janacek International Organ Competition and special prize for the best interpretation of Leos Janacek’s pieces (2012), 2nd prize in VIII Mikael Tariverdiev International Competition Organ Competition and special prize for the best interpretation of Mikael Tariverdiev’s pieces.
He took part in master classes taught by such famous artists as: Pierre Pincemaille, Julian Gembalski, Gerhard Gnann, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Martin Rost, Krzysztof Urbaniak, Mark Kroll, Zigmont Schathmary, Andrew Henderson, Jaroslav Tuma, Hans-Jürgen Kaiser.
Michal Kocot is two-time scholar of Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
