Biography
Born in St. Petersburg in 2002, Ivan Bessonov has been playing the piano since the age of six. In 2021, Ivan graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory Central Music School (class of the Honoured Artist of Russia Professor Valery Pyasetsky).
At the moment, he is a student at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and CMS-Academy of Performing Arts (class of the Honoured Artist of Russia Professor Valery Pyasetsky).
In 2016, Ivan gave his first solo recital at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. He has also performed with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Yevgeny Svetlanov State Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the Tatarstan State Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the State Symphony Orchestra “Novaya Rossiya” and other Russian and foreign orchestras, cooperating with such prominent conductors as Valery Gergiev, Alexander Sladkovsky, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Vladimir Spivakov and many others, and touring the cities in Russia and abroad.
2015 – Grand prix at the International Frédéric Chopin Youth Competition (St. Petersburg)
2016 – First prize winner of the International Anton Rubinstein Competition “Piano Miniature in Russian Music” (St. Petersburg)
2016 – Prize winner and winner of the People's Choice Award at I Grand Piano Competition (Moscow)
2017 – First prize winner of the International Competition ASTANA ÐIÀNO PASSION-2017 (Astana)
2018 – Prize winner at II Grand Piano Competition (Moscow)
2018 – Winner of the Eurovision Young Musicians-2018 (Edinburg)
2019 – Winner of the International Professional Music Award “BraVo” (Discovery of the Year)
2020 – Grand prix of the All-Russian Competition for Young Musicians “Sozvezdie”
2021 – Winner of the Russian National Music Award “Victoria” (Discovery of the Year in Classical Music)
2022 – First prize winner of the Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors (Moscow)
