Giuliana Maccaroni

Biography

Giuliana Maccaroni teaches Organ at the High School of Music G. Tartini of Trieste. She is the regular organist of Christ the King Church, Pesaro, with a Mascioni historical organ built in 1906. In this church she is the artistic director of the international organ festival “Vespri d’organo a Cristo Re”.

Giuliana Maccaroni has a busy curriculum, both as a soloist and in ensemble playing at important Italian and foreign places Festivals: Belgium, Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, United States of America, Russia, Siberia, Switzerland, England, Finland, Norway, Republic of Andorra, Polland.

Particularly interested in organ compositions opera style, it deepens the repertoire and performing both original pages and transcriptions. Significant is her activity as a duo for organ duet with organist Martino Pòrcile, with which offers programs ranging from early music to contemporary, with particular reference to the Italian operatic tradition.

Her interest in this repertoire has led her to make recordings, world premieres, much appreciated by critics and audiences. In particular, for the label Tactus: Giovanni Morandi's Sonatas for four hands (TC 771 301); Gioachino Rossini's Symphonies for organ for four hands (TC 791 805) and Theatrical Atmospheres for organ for four hands, with music by Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini and Mozart (TC 75001).

She also published, for Armelin Music, the second volume of the Opera omnia of keyboard sonatas by Baldassare Galuppi, a critical edition (GOS AM 102).

Graduated from the G. Rossini Conservatorium of Pesaro, where she studied Organ and organ composition with Maestro Marco Arlotti, with top marks and honours. After further study she obtained a Diploma in Harpsichord and a degree in Musicology (specialization in music library science) at the University of Cremona. In addition, she gained a Magisterial organ degree at the Conservatorium of Vicenza with Maestro Roberto Antonello.

Giuliana Maccaroni has taken courses on organ methodology and execution and interpretation in Italy and abroad with the following well-known Masters: L. Ghielmi, E. Kooiman, H. Vogel, M. Radulescu, W. Zerer, Ch. Stembridge, M.C. Alain, L. Lohmann.

Giuliana Maccaroni has been awarded two scholarships and won numerous prizes at national and international contests .
