Biography
Ekaterina Lekhina is the 1st Prize Winner at one of the most prestigious world vocal contests — The World Opera Competition Operalia, founded by Placido Domingo, - in Paris in 2007; she is also the Grammy Award Winner in the nomination «The best opera recording – 2011» for the role of Clemence in the opera by Kaija Saariaho L’amour de loin.
Born in Samara. Graduated from the solo singing department of the Victor Popov Academy of Choral Art (class of Prof. S.Nesterenko), later completed her post graduate studies at the Academy.
Ekaterina Lekhina started her opera career in 2006 in Wien, where she made her debuts in the Mozart’s operas as Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor) and The Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte).
She appeared with great success at the world best opera venues such as The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, and Volksoper Wien (Olympia in Offenbach’s Les contes d'Hoffmann), Teatro Municipal de Santiago (Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème and Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto), Gran Teatre del Liceu in Madrid (Diana in Martín y Soler’s L'arbore di Diana) and others.
She has performed under the baton of famous conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, Antonio Pappano, Kent Nagano, Leopold Hager, Alfred Eschwe, David Stahl, Frederic Chaslin and Louis Langré among others.
Coming opera engagements include Elvira’s part (Bellini’s I Puritani) at the Music Festival in Manaus (Brazil).
