Biography

Carlos David Jaimes is regarded as one of Argentina’s most versatile and dynamic musicians. He currently serves as the Principal Conductor of the Buenos Aires City Symphonic Band, the Florencio Varela Symphony Orchestra, and a professor of the Orchestral Conducting Department at the Universidad Nacional de Artes (UNA).

He stands out for his expressive and human qualities, Carlos has established himself as one of the leading conductors of his generation. He is acclaimed for his interpretations of G. Mahler’s symphonies, music by late 19th-century Russian composers, and ballet conducting.

He regularly conducts Argentina’s leading orchestras, including the Teatro Colón’s Permanent Orchestra, the Argentine National Symphony Orchestra, the Permanent Orchestra of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, the National Orchestra “Juan de Dios Filiberto”, and the symphony orchestras of Mendoza, Santa Fe, Tucumán, Bahía Blanca, among others.

Carlos honed his skills as a ballet conductor under the guidance of Maestro Carlos Calleja and has spent the past decade leading Argentina’s foremost ballet companies. These include the Permanent Ballet of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, the Argentine National Ballet, and the Contemporary Ballet of the Teatro San Martín. He has conducted productions of Giselle, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Raymonda, Carmen, Don Quixote, La Bayadère, Le Corsaire, The Firebird, and other contemporary premieres.

For several years, he has collaborated with Buenos Aires Lírica, Juventus Lyrica, and the Teatro Roma de Avellaneda, conducting various operatic productions and earning recognition for his interpretations of Puccini and Verdi.

Throughout his career, Carlos has worked alongside a diverse range of artists, including Horacio Lavandera, Iñaki Urlezaga, Mauricio Wainrot, Oscar Araiz, Stanimir Todorov, Xavier Inchausti, Freddy Varela, José Araujo, Rafael Gintoli, Fito Páez, Jairo, Fabiana Cantilo, Hilda Lizarazu, Nahuel Pennisi, Teresa Parodi, Julia Zenko, Víctor Heredia, Ligia Piro, Rodolfo Mederos, among others.
