Borusan Quartet

About group

Borusan Quartet was founded in 2005 by maestro Gürer Aykal. Their work was greatly influenced by the Alban Berg Quartet and the Juilliard Quartet. As a result of Borusan Quartet’s collaboration with the Swiss Maggini Foundation, the musicians have the opportunity to play priceless instruments of old masters.

The quartet participates in many prestigious European festivals. In 2010, the quartet was awarded the Andante magazine prize in the chamber ensemble category and in the same year won the gold medal at the ICMEC 2010 International Chamber Music Competition, the final of which was held at Carnegie Hall in New York.

The quartet’s tour geography is extremely extensive – Austria, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Algeria, Holland, Serbia, Qatar, Belarus, Portugal, Jordan, Switzerland, Tanzania, Greece, the USA, Barbados, Japan, Slovenia and England. The quartet’s repertoire covers a wide range of works written for string quartet – from classical to contemporary music with an emphasis on works by Turkish composers.
