Dmitry Ganenko

Biography
Dmitry Ganenko was born in 1988. In 2006 he graduated from the Middle Special School of Music of the St Petersburg State Conservatoire. From 2006–2011 he studied at the St Petersburg Conservatoire (class of A. Nikitin), while from 2010–2012 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin under Troels Svane.
Has taken part in numerous international festivals including the New Names festival. Prize-winner at the International Competition of the Central School of Music in Moscow (1st prize, 2006), the International Competition in Gérardmer (1st prize, 2007), the International Gartow Stiftung Competition in St Petersburg (1st prize, 2007) and the International Mravinsky Competition in St Petersburg (1st prize, 2008).
In 2003 the International Club of Residents of St Petersburg awarded Dmitry Ganenko the Golden Prometheus prize. For several years he was a grant-recipient of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and a grant-recipient of the Philharmonic Society and New Names programme.
Has taken part in master-classes by such musicians as Natalia Shakhovskaya, Sergei Roldugin, Ko Iwasaki, Hatto Beyerle, Troels Svane, Jens Peter Maintz and Leonid Gorokhov. In April 2014 he gave a recital at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre. Currently a soloist with the Mariinsky Orchestra, gives recitals and performs with chamber ensembles.
Dmitry Ganenko performs a cello manufactured by the Italian craftsman Giuseppe Bargelli on generous loan from the Artistic Board of the Mariinsky Theatre.
