German Brass

About group

The GERMAN BRASS ensemble after many years of its existence has set the performing standard for brass bands all over the world. Founded in 1974, and one of the first in Germany, this brass ensemble actively promotes the performing arts of this direction, and has a huge influence on it. The ensemble managed to combine “diversity in unity”, that is, to acquire a unique, unmistakably recognizable sound, created by ten concert artists from various acclaimed German orchestras. As part of the ensemble, they perform chamber music, imbuing it with symphonic magnificence and dynamics that only brass instrumentalists can produce. The repertoire of GERMAN BRASS includes works of various eras and directions from S.Scheidt to D.Shostakovich, from Dixieland to Bossa-Nova. The ensemble’s concerts have interesting and wellbalanced programs, including both classical repertoire and jazz compositions and arrangements, which are mostly written specially for the ensemble, taking into account the ensemble’s individual sound and brilliant technique. An example of such a program is one of the GERMAN BRASS concerts with inimitably witty and entertaining comments by Klaus Wallendorf, as well as many of the CD-recordings made by the band.
