Biography

Alexey Chizhik, a renowned musician from St-Petersburg, is a graduate of the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory of Music. Chizhik has the à rare ability to play both jazz and classical music creating complex musical compositions of different styles. He is the only Russian vibraphonist who can play with five mallets at the same time. He is well known in St Petersburg for his traditional concerts in the historic Summer Gardens. Chizhik has taken part in numerous international projects and festivals, including the Jazz Festival in the Peter and Paul’s fortress Jazz. 2005-2010, where he played with Larry Porter (piano), Andrei Kondakov (piano) and the Chizhik-Jazz-Quartet, and the Moscow City Jazz Festival 2007, where he played with the Andrea Marcelli (drums) quartet.
Since 1999 Alexey Chizhik has been the organizer of the annual concerts 'Classical Music Meets Jazz' in the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall.
