Biography

Mazurov Ilia (Bass-baritone). Born in 1991 in Krasnoyarsk (Russia), graduated from Krasnoyarsk College of Arts in class academic choir conducting. During the studying in College he became the winner of Russian and International vocal and conducting competitions. From 2009 to 2014 he studied conducting and singing in St.Petersburg Conservatory (Valentin Nesterov) and participated in vocal master classes of Elena Obraztsova.

Ilia has performed parts in operas by Charpentier, Lully, Rameau, Monteverdi, Mozart, Rodriguez de Hita, various cantatas and oratorio works (Mozart's Requiem , Magnificat, Messe h-moll and Matthaeus Passion by J.S.Bach, “The Seasons” and "The Creation" by J.Haydn, “Te Deum” by Purcell, Buxtehude’s “Membra Jesu Nostri”, "Les Noces" by Stravinsky etc.) and also chamber music (vocal works of Schubert, Schumann etc.) In 2015-2016, he performed the main part in the opera of Martín-y-Soler and Catherine the Great "Gorebogatyr- Kosometovich" and participated in reconstruction of first Russian-language opera "Cephalus and Prokris (Francesco Araja, Alexander Sumarokov) at the festival "Early Music" (St.-Petersburg, directed by Andrey Reshetin), also perfomed part in this opera in Bolshoi theatre (Moscow, 2017). In 2017 he participated in Cesti Baroque Competition ("Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik", Austria). In 2019 he performed the role of Celenus in Lully's Opera "Atys" at the Heritage theater (Saint- Petersburg) and worked as part of a vocal ensemble by Andrew Parrott’s condacting in “Earlymusic” festival Saint-Petersburg 2020 In 2021 Ilia participated in Eeemerging+ program to perform roles in Carissimi, Charpentier and Rossi's oratorios. In 2022 this program was performed in Festival d'Ambronay. Also in 2021 Ilia became a semifinalist of Froville baroque competition and Concours Cornelle in Rouen. In 2023 he took part in the performance of M. Falvetti 's oratorio "Il diluvio universale" with maestro Leonardo Garcia Alarcon and Cappella Mediterranea at the festivals “Misteria Paschalia” in Krakow (Poland) and “Les coups de coeur a Chantilly” (France). In 2023 Ilia also took part in the recording of the album of ensemble “Les Argonautes” (Jonas Descotte) by works of Handel and Lotti in Geneva.

Ilia performes with various orchestras and ensembles («Correspondences”, “Utopia”, “Pygmalion”, Paris Philharmonic orchestra, “Cantoria”, “Les Argonautes”, “Spirito”, "Cappella Mediterranea", “MusicAeterna”, Choir of Radio France, "Persimfans", "The soloists of Catherine the Great", "Barocco Concertate", "The Pocket Symphony", Mariinsky orchestra, Saint-Petersburg Philarmonic orchestra, "Synergy Orchestra", Chamber soloists of Minsk, etc.) and musicians (Sébastien Daucé, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Raphael Pichon, Nicole Corti, Leonardo Garcia Alarcon, Andrew Parrott, Geoffroy Jourdain, Teodor Currentzis, Jonas Descotte, Valery Gergiev, Michael Chance, Deborah York, Isabelle Poulenard, Andrey Reshetin, Thierry Peteau, Jérôme Correas, Maria Krestinskaya, Leo Kraemer, Nazar Kozhukhar, Dmitry Zubov, Fyodor Lednev, Florian Helgath, Grigory Krotenko).
